Reticulation Samples

"Where is the Dragon's Cave?"
Hanoi series. My first reticulated piece! I used
three
different brands of gold foil which were left bare, the
silver was only covered with sifted transparent flux.
Dragons stencilled in opaque red.

"A Flame Flickers Within"
Hanoi series. The gold shapes were placed randomly,
and
the temple was cut from silver foil. The 'Tet' flag
was a
final detail drawn with oxide, colored with opaques.

"The Heart Quivers"
Hanoi series. Sometimes foils placed randomly,
serendipitously
create quite figurative imagery, as in this piece.
Only a few
details in opaque red and blue, plus background transparent
colors were needed to reveal the bird. The cage was
drawn
in with 'carefree luster'.

"Lost City"
Some of the silver shapes were taken into solution creating
fugitive shadows which were left uncovered. Various
fluxes
were used over the gold, opaque red triangle.

"Why Speak of Forever?"
Very strong opaque base colors were used under the foils,
silver in solution, barely visible. Wet-packed with
strongly
colored transparents.
